Subject Files 1925-1977.

Boxes 1 and 2 contain alphabetized sets of subject files on a variety of subjects kept by the Secretary for Southern Asia and the Middle East, J. Frederick Neudoerffer, and his predecessors. Those with oversight of the India work before Neudoerffer include George Drach, Luther A. Gotwald, and Earl S. Erb (see Administrative History ULCA 19/7). Most notable of the subject files, perhaps, are the records of a court case based upon the convention of 1963. At this convention there arose a controversy over which delegates to seat. The president, K. Krupadanam, adjourned the convention until the following day. He then sent written notice to those who reconvened the next day that the convention was canceled. The delegates, with a quorum already present, determined the president could not cancel a convention in that manner, the vice-president took charge, and the convention proceeded, including the election of officers. When Krupadanam lost his presidency, he challenged this meeting and the election in court. Box 3 contains reports and files dealing with church structure, including constitutions, policy conferences, and property issues. Boxes 4 and 5 contain financial records, such as transmittal records and budgets. Box 6 contains statistics, most in the form of printed booklets.
